But Why Different?

Those with children will recognize the question – “But Why?”

It’s always a great question. It not only provides deeper insight for those asking, but often allows those answering to better articulate the message. Just so long as it’s not “Because I said so.”!!

So here goes, courtesy of business luminary, Seth Godin.

“The truth about strategy in a competitive environment; if you are doing what everyone else is doing, if you are part of the common, then it’s not an approach that will move you forward.”

Doing what everyone else is doing results in ONE thing – competition.

If you imagine competition is good for business, think again.

It drives down profits as companies scramble to achieve market share by reducing fees. It requires a larger marketing budget to maintain attention. It creates uncertainty and confusion – the “better than trap”.

Are we “better than” our competition? Will our customers believe that we are? How can we prove it? If we are actually “better than”, why aren’t we winning?

Some companies believe technology to be their great differentiation.  Aside from whether the technology actually makes a discernible difference, most technology, if it’s any good, can be replicated in one form or another.

Different is Better Than Better - Remarkably-Different

Competition is a rat-race and even if you win, you’re still a rat (Lily Tomlin).

There are two things that allow any business to differentiate – the culture and the people.

Focus on those two things because consumers don’t trust brands – they trust other people.

When you have that trust and loyalty, you have no competition. They choose YOU.

Other company’s ideas, other business’s features & benefits matter little.

Your business has a vision of what the future looks like – let’s go create it, instead of reacting to what everyone else is doing.

First, your message has to be crystal-clear. A single point of persuasion that attracts and then engages.

We can help you with that copywriting services.

Then, the platform on which that message is shared. Again, doing what everyone else is doing isn’t sensible. You’re simply asking consumers to compare what they see and, if they see your competition more than they see you, guess what happens?

We can help create a platform that you own – positioning any business as a media owner, not as one that pays to access some other audience.  It’s all here on:

Digital Publishing

One Stop Media Publishing

Digital Marketing, App Development and stunningly minimalist Web Design complete the package.

A team of maverick misfits brought together by an overwhelming desire to change how things are – Everything is the way it is because someone changed the way it was.

Now it’s out turn – are you in, or are you out?

I?m impressed, I must say. Really not often do I encounter a blog that?s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your thought is excellent; the issue is one thing that not sufficient persons are talking intelligently about. I’m very completely happy that I stumbled across this in my seek for one thing relating to this.
